This site provides links(at left) to experimental wideband spectrum data received at several sites. Data of this type has been used for studying ionospheric phenomenae, such as sprites, and for monitoring lightning strikes on the ground. Work is underway to developed the data from the stations linked at left into a system for monitoring lightning strikes across Australasia. Richard
Dowden and associates at Low Frequency Electromagnetic Research, Ltd
(LF*EM) produced this data with support from the New Zealand Marsden
Fund. Further funding for this work was granted by the Australian Research
Council in conjunction with the Department of Land Administration. Principals
on the grant are Richard Dowden and Craig Roger of LF*EM and Jennifer
Robinson of Murdoch University.
